Programs

InReach

InReach workers provide one-to-one support to help connect WISH participants to programs and activities, as well as other services and organizations in the community.

The InReach program aims to coordinate and collaborate with other service providers to support with wraparound care for WISH participants. This may include mental health, medical teams, or outreach teams, as well as community services and interpersonal support.

The personalized support provided by InReach staff helps to inform participants about, and connect them to, all the programs and services that WISH has to offer, as well as opportunities and services outside of WISH.

Once immediate and urgent needs are met, many WISH participants choose to connect with InReach to get assistance with achieving longer term goals.

For example:

  • Skills development (computer, writing, math)
  • Employment (resume and cover letter writing, job applications, interview prep)
  • Filling out forms and applications (housing, ID, filing taxes, Ministry support)
  • Emotional support and counselling referrals
  • Technical support for online appointments
  • In-person support for appointments (medical, housing, etc.) and follow-up

InReach staff also organize social events for WISH participants, such  as BINGO, movies, beauty nights, ice-cream sundae parties and a monthly birthday party. They also receive Bad Date Reports and produce the Red Light Alert. With extensive knowledge of local and regional community services, they are excellent advocates for people accessing services at WISH.
