Join Team WISH in the Vancouver Half-Marathon!  

Whether you’re a runner or walker, there are several ways you can support WISH.

Read on for step-by-step instructions on how to register as a racer. Or, you can make a donation and help a WISH Team racer meet their fundraising goal!

We hope you’re as excited as we are about the return of in-person events. There’s nothing like running or walking with 5,000 of your closest friends to get that feeling of being part of something really big. Everyone who registers gets a souvenir shirt, and when you cross the finish line, you get a shiny medal to celebrate your accomplishment! 

That’s why we are so excited that Charity Challenge (previously the Scotiabank Charity Challenge) is back in person! This year’s race is a hybrid event so whether you’re ready to join other runners in person or not, there’s an option for you.

There is a new course for the 5K, and a few changes have been made to the half-marathon course. The 5K begins in front of the Museum of Vancouver. The half still starts at UBC, but both races end at Vanier Park in Kitsilano, which means those of us running the half won’t have to run up the Burrard Bridge on the push to the finish line!

The in-person event will take place on June 26, or, if you decide to participate virtually, you can run or walk any day between May 27 and June 26. You can choose to walk or run the half-marathon, 5K, or the 1K kids run (for ages 2-12).



Follow the steps below to register for the race. Feel free to reach out to our Development Manager, Jan Hawkins at with any concerns or questions. If you have any questions about the race itself, Canada Running Series has a great FAQ section. 


Once you’ve been redirected to the Vancouver Half-Marathon page, click Register to begin the registration process. 


If you prefer, you can log-in using your Facebook account.


i. Choose whether you’ll run in-person or virtually and then select your distance.  

ii. Fill in your personal information.

If you are running a virtual race, we recommend that you use a running app to record your results.

You will also be asked for your Name on Bib, using your first name or a nickname works well. If left blank, your race bib will only have your bib number on it.

iii. Choose your team.

When you get to the “General & Charity Challenge Fundraising Teams” section, you have two options. You can “create a new Charity Challenge fundraising team” (use this option if you are organizing a group of people to walk or run together), or “join an existing Charity Challenge team” (use this option to join the WISH Drop-In Centre Society team or WISH Staff & Volunteers team). 

IMPORTANT: if you create your own team, make sure to select WISH Drop-In Centre Society as the “preferred fundraising organization for this team.” 

iv. Personalize your page

Once you have completed registration and paid the fee, you are ready to edit your fundraising page. Choose a fundraising goal, upload a photo, and add a brief description letting your friends and family know why you are running for the WISH Drop-In Centre. You can continue to edit this page once you have saved it by clicking “Edit Page” on your Race Roster Dashboard.

v. Start fundraising!

Share your fundraising page with friends, neighbours, colleagues – anyone you can think of! Start recruiting the people around you to get on board. Don’t worry, we’ll send you regular emails with fundraising tips and sample communication.
